Name: | Ennis Delmar |
---|---|
Birthdate: | Oct 27 |
Location: | United States |
Website: | Milliways Bar |
There was some open space between what he knew and what he tried to believe, but nothing could be done about it, and if you can't fix it you've got to stand it.
Ennis del Mar is a rancher by birth, and a rancher by necessity. Raised by his older brother and sister after their parents died, Ennis is a stereotypical cowboy. Grizzled and rough and dirt poor, he doesn't talk about much of anything with much of anybody. He does what he needs to do to get by, and he lives by his own set of rules, with the number one ruler being the land. His work is important to him, his employers are not. His daughters are important to him, but the land comes before family. And nobody will ever EVER mean to him what Jack Twist does.
In more practical terms, Ennis is an introvert, a chain smoker, a bit of an ass, and not above pulling a sucker punch. He doesn't have many friends, and he doesn't especially want them. He's only fallen in love once, and he won't actually admit that, let alone try to let it happen again.
For the game, he's been taken shortly after his divorce with Alma, after Jack returns to Texas. Ennis has come to Milliways, and left, come back, and died.
Now he's back once more, young again, back for a second chance, courtesy of Desire.
*****
The story describes him as such:
Ennis, high-arched nose and narrow face, was scruffy and a little cave-chested, balanced a small torso on long, caliper legs, possessed a muscular and supple body made for the horse and for fighting. His reflexes were uncommonly quick and he was farsighted enough to dislike reading anything except Hamley's saddle catalog.
The movie enlists Heath Ledger to play him, though, and thus so do I.
*****
Ennis del Mar is from Brokeback Mountain, and is the property of Annie Proulx and Scribner. He appears here solely for the purpose of role-playing in , from which no profit whatsoever is being made.
